Tyler's Pictures From Peru
Thanks to Grandma Burch and her generosity, Tyler has returned from a "personality building experience" from Peru. He and his cousin Josh spent nearly 3 weeks on an LDS humanitarian service mission in Peru. They were stationed at the "Sunflower Orphanage" where they made adobe bricks for future building, dug sewer trenches, cleaned out guinea pig pens to be made into living quarters, and played games with the orphans. They also did some sightseeing, perform baptisms for the dead at the Lima Temple and made lots of new friends.
Fair
The Grant County Fair has come to an end. As far as the Morrison kids are concerned, it was a success.Thanks to Grandma Morrison and her fair wisdom and motivational techniques, Kevakin and Creesh entered 13 items for judging this year. Kevakin took home 6 blue ribbons, Creesh took 4 blue, 2 red and a white ribbon. They had a lot of fun.

Good Day
Kevin surprised us with a visit last night after attending the Washington State Funeral Director's Convention. He took us to dinner at Denny's Restaurant, rented the movie "Vantage Point" and watched the Olympics until everyone fell asleep about midnight. Then, he headed to the airport at 7:30 this morning. Who would think that an unplanned Thursday night would turn out to be so special.Thanks Kevin for a short but wonderful vacation. The movie has been added to my "Top Ten".

Letter from Elder Morrison
well, it's been an interesting week. this week started out pretty good. my companion and i were getting along pretty well, and nothing out of the ordinary was happening. then on friday night, elder grayson asked if he could use my little screwdriver to try and fix his cd player. i asked him if he'd listen to 'apostate music', meaning unapproved stuff. he said probably.
so i wouldnt let him use it. well, he got really upset at that, and was really mad at me. he wouldnt do our daily planning with me or even talk to me. we went to bed on not very good terms. the next day, things were really awkward between us, and i asked him if he was still mad at me. he said pretty much. i asked him what i could do to help and what i needed to change, and he wouldnt answer me. after doing some service for an investigator, i parked the car on the side of the road and asked him 'is this something that we're going to get over and be able to work together, or is it something where we're going to have to call president turley and tell him it's not going to work?' he said 'do what you think you should do'. i didnt call president, but talked to the zone leaders about it, and they said to deal with it for a couple days, and serve him. i also talked to elder smith, our district leader about it, and he said basically the same thing.
my plan is that if things dont get better, then i'll talk to president turley at zone conference this week. however, last night, he started talking to me again, and we actually did our planning, and said companion prayers.
this morning, things seem to be better. i'm planning on buying him lunch at the casino, which is a buffet, and is really good. by the way he is from canyon city, Colorado.
i cant believe that roman is home already. you know he went out less than a year before me. tyler fredericksen will be coming home about 4 months from now, and he's only 5 months or so ahead of me. i will have nine months left as of this friday. and speaking of which, i'll be home on may 21st, not the 16th. you may want to change the countdown. and while i'm at that, you can drop the 'c/o brother ward' from it. just put the address. that's fine.
this week, we had teamups with the zone leaders. we found this lady tracting, and she seems pretty interested. she accepted an invitation to read and pray, and halfway accepted a soft baptismal commitment. we'll see her on thursday. we havent heard anything from the eivens family, the ones that we gave the blessings to. hopefully we'll be able to contact them soon.
to answer your question, the wards moved to cheyenne, wyoming. they were going to washington, but then decided on wyoming. in fact they called me yesterday, and said they finally got settled in, and brother ward starts work today, hauling crude oil around wyoming and i think oklahoma. sounds like they're doing well. sister ward's dad still lives in the house, and he'll be there for about a week or 2 more, and then we'll be here all by our lonesome in a mansion. i think our house has to be about 8,000 square feet or so. its huge.
thanks a ton for the package. i really enjoy the cd's. they're really good, and yes, approved. i was really stoked about the pics, though. that was a lot of pictures, and it was interesting when i couldnt distinguish cousins because they're all growing up, and one cousing looks like the older sibling as of the last time i saw them. for instance, whitney and kori, and kasiah and lacy. pretty crazy.
i'm really excited to find out where grandma goes on her mission. i know that it will be exciting for her. it sure has been exciting for me.

Letter from Elder Morrison
hey family!
well, this week seems like it was forever! a lot of things have happened though. and most of them were pretty sad. transfers were this week, and Elder Parkinson got transferred to sikeston. we got along really really well, and i probably could have served with him for 6 months. my new companion is pretty anti-social, which is a big change. we had game night this week, and my companion just went in the other room and looked at the member's books and stuff. he wasnt very big on game night. elder grayson is into movies and videogames, which you'd think i'd be pretty happy about. but it kinda sucks when your companion just talks about stuff you already know. oh well. i saw pictures of his from before the mission. he went to some hippie camp or something down in the ozark mountains, in arkansas. the people he hung out with are pretty interesting. it's going to be a pretty trying transfer, but i'll make it. mostly, i'm just feeling really empty, because elder parkinson left, and then the next day, the wards moved to wyoming. they were pretty much like my adopted parents, in fact, they reminded me a lot of you guys. it was pretty hard to see them go, and it was like leaving home again, except there was nothing to really look forward to. when i left home, i had the mission to look forward to. now i've been out over 14 months, and i stayed in the same area. it was more like my family leaving me. oh, well, they're supposed to be giving me their address so i can write.
ok, time for the spiritual experience of the month (since it seems i have them rarely in this area). before she left, sister ward gave us a referral for a friend she had at work. the lady's husband was having health problems, and brother in law had recently developed seizures. sister ward had told them about priesthood blessings and she said that they wanted one. so we went over there, and she was expecting us. after explaining the priesthood, we gave them all blessings. after that, the spirit was way strong, and we pointed it out to them. then we taught the message of the restoration. they really were receptive, and we're going to call them for an appointment this week. it was probably the most solid lesson i've had in this area, and they were crying and everything. pretty sweet.
well, that's about all that has really happened. i hope everything goes well this week. love you so much, and tell ty 'hi' if he calls this week.

Letter from Tyler
alright here is the dealio. basically the first flight was delayed 3 and a half hours. then the next plane was delayed again until 230 and so we didnt arive in lima until arund 915. so we missed our flight to cusco. not only that, we sat in that airport for 10 hours while allison tried to find us tickets for planes our of lima to cusco, unfortunately, nothing was found. today we were stuck in lima because the soonest flight we could get is 830 tommorw morning. then we have flights ranging from then until two, just our group is on so many different planes. last night i was really discouraged, mom i know you said just be strong about everything for josh´s sake but he handled in a lot better than me. we were stuck in a different country, not even knowing if we were going to get tickets to go to cusco or anything. i was almost in tears. anyways, to pass the time we went to the lima temple to do some baptisms and the most amazing thing happend. as we were waiting, we were told that the day that we were coming through on the way back to do temple work, they were closed for two weeks, i guess Heavenly Father wanted us to be in that temple at that time, we met a young man named vladimier. he was the funniest kid. he is fourteen and like up to my knees. ahah but anyways he did the baptisms along with us and that was cool. they asked if we wanted it to be in spanish and we all said yes. it was a great experience. we went shopping today as well, i got some prizes for someof you so start getting excited, only 2 weeks til you get to see it. sorry for not calling, we have been having trouble getting a sim card or even a calling card for that matter. so you will have to settle for this. tommorrows flight is supposed to take all day, just to get everyone there, but the flight it self is only an hour or so. the camera bugged out twice and i lost all my pictures twice. the first time i had like 10 pics on it and then it said the memory was full. so i deleted everything on there. there were pics from like when hailey made crap out of clay. anyways lights out in an hour and im on the first flight outta here tomorrow so i gotta go get packed. trying to stay possitive is hard when you are in a different country and nothing is going right. anyways, love y´´all and if this is hard to read its cus the keyboard is different. adios! -- Tyler Morrison

well, yesterday was transfer calls. Elder Parkinson is going to be serving in Sikeston, MO. i'm going to be getting Elder Grayson, who i hear is a hippie. we'll see how he rivals with dad. lol. also, elder smith that i served with in st. peters will be my district leader out here. alex is now a zone leader in the Cape Girardeau Zone. sounds like you had a good time at the concert for the most part. i really miss getting to go to live music. after i get home, i'll probably REALLY enjoy the free concerts in the park. are they still doing those? and mom, that drunk guy that sat next to you...i guess you're being prepared to serve a mission when you and dad get older. lol. awkward moments every day.
sounds like ty is having a trying time in peru, but i think that no matter what he thinks of it right now, he'll love it after he comes home. i'm glad he got that experience in the temple too. ty is gonna learn so much. i think it will really make him realize what a mission is kinda like, except i dont know when he gets to email. pretty intense stuff.
tell brett good luck for me. you'll have to remind me what new york mission he was sent to. also let me know about reeder's call. thanks so much for scottie's info. i hope that i get the right one the first time. lol.
ok, answering of the questions time:
1) this week, we did a lot of stuff. we did a lot of service yet again. in fact, on saturday, we spent from 7 in the morning until 8:30 at night working with brother ward. he is in the final few days of working on the house, and we were helping lay carpet. me and elder parkinson would put up the tacks by the walls and then lay the padding, and brother ward would come after that and lay the carpet. we also got a room painted. the kitchen is done in there too. i'll have to take some pictures for you so you can see it. we also did service on the Larkins farm, building more fence. unfortunately, it was raining some of the time so we didnt accomplish as much as we should have. we also helped Jerry do some sheetrock work, which is difficult because we're in a tiny room, with angled ceilings, upstairs, without A/C. whew!
2)as for weather, tuesday we got a pretty violent storm. i forgot my camera today, but i got a couple videos of it. the only storm i can really think of to rival it was back in Chesterfield when i took that video of that crazy storm with hail. it didnt hail here, but the thunder was the loudest i've ever heard in my life. by the way, the missouri river i think is in flood stage again.
3)knees= blah. they're not doing very well, but it definitely helps a lot when i use my knee brace i bought. i try to wear it as much as i can.
4)already talked about service opportunities 5)i missed one. the missionary work is pretty slow still, although we may have a good opportunity. we are working with a member's friend, who has a girlfriend. he has taken the lessons before, and almost joined the church. however, his girlfriend wants to take the lessons, so we're going to teach them this week. pretty excited about that.
6)not any really new foods. there is a salad dressing out here called Dorothy Lynch, which the main ingredient is tomato soup. if you figure that one out, let me know. it's pretty gross.
7)no, no more powder.
as for the job offer, i'm pretty happy about staying in ML. i was worried about it, and i know it would be closer to home for you guys, but to tell you the truth, i wouldnt be going home after my mission. i'd be going to my new house. lol.
well, i guess that's about it, except that you really need to find that tape recorder...its really important.

Well, we thought she was being cured but not enough liquid intake put her back at the doctor's office today for a 3 hour visit. She had her fill to drink (intravenously) and was told to go home and take in some water the normal way.We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Burch Reunion
What a wonderful reunion. "Fun In The Sun" must have been the theme. Wilma took care of everyone and everything from the good food to awesome activities, from the slip-n-slide to Brian's slice-n-dash. Thanks for the memories!
Letter from Elder Morrison
hey family!
things are pretty good this week. today we're in columbia for p-day. we're having a 'zone p-day' i guess you could say, and Alex will be here. i'll see about getting some pictures for you. we're probably going to be playing some basketball or volleyball. well, for service this week, we hung some cabinets, and leveled out a bowed wall for sheetrock. we also did some fence building and hay moving. on the day we did the hay moving, the guy that was selling the hay asked how long we'd be in missouri, and after i told him, he said "oh, you'll be talkin' funny by the time you leave". well, just to let you know how long i've already been here, the next day we went to brother ward's to do service and we took out a base-board for a counter top. the nails stayed in the wall, and i heard myself then say "you're gonna have to pound them nails in". i'm officially turning redneck, guys. dont be surprised when i come home and call everyone 'fellers'. lol. well, i had a pretty fun experience this week. we got invited to a revival. the thing is, is that when we got there, we found out it was a black church, and they were doing the 'hallelujah' and 'praise Jesus' deal. the weird part was when at the end, the guest evangelist asked us all to stand, hold hands with the person next to you, in groups of 2, and pray for each other. it was kinda quiet at that point, so the lady said "i wanna hear you prayin' out loud!"
so everyone's praying loud for they're partner, and me and elder parkinson are just kinda freaked out, and we're standing there holding hands, and the pastor is running around anointing people with oil, which he did to us as well. definitely an interesting experience, and a real life look at the apostasy. good stuff.
sounds like kevakin had a good birthday. i guess i'll be able to be with him for the next one! and creesha, i know what it's like to do the tonsil thing.
no fun at all, i know. in fact, because of it, i had to miss a cub scout trip to the Grand Coulee Dam, and to try to make me feel better, they brought me a can of orange soda. bummer, huh?
that's awesome to hear about Brian McCaffery. i kinda always figured he'd join the church, with all the influence from Roman. i wouldnt be surprised if his dad and Brent also did.
well, i guess that's about all for this week. i hope you have a fun time with HBR, and ty, travel safe. i hope you're still savvy on your spanish.

Post-Op
Hailey spent her second night at home last night since her tonsils disappeared. She has checked under her pillow and still no money from the tonsil fairy.
She thinks she can't talk so she continually writes on the magnadoodle to give us messages.
Oh... about the picture. She hates it when she gets bunny ears in pictures. Deb won!

SURGERY STRESS
Hailey is at the hospital with Deb today to pre-register for her tonsil surgery on Friday…and…I must say she is a little stressed. The doctor told her she wouldn’t be able to scream for the next 2 weeks, and that put her over the edge. It was all put in perspective when I told her when Kevakin went to the hospital for his circumcision surgery he couldn't walk for over a year!
...so look all around you for somebody who, is smiling and happy, my goodness it's you -- happy birthday Kevakin !
Creesh went shopping at the dollar store and found Kevakin the perfect present. All he really wanted was dinner at the local Mexican restaurant so he could eat the cherry off the sopapia and wear the sombrero (or as Deb calls it... "the mexican lice hat"). well, another week down is right. we've had a pretty busy week, but not necessarily with appointments. again, we've done a bunch of service. i got trained a little bit in carpentry this week. as well as the usual construction, plus a little farm work, and moving. nothing like working up a sweat like you can never have in WA...before noon! it's been pretty dang muggy the last few days. we had a little rain, but the time before the rain and right after the rain are soooooo humid. no fun there. our work this week consisted of building bookshelves with an investigator, Jerry, also putting sheetrock on a 10 foot ceiling with Brother Ward, moving another member's stuff, and moving/putting up a fence for an investigator, Leslie. it's been a pretty 'work-hard' week. lots of good things have started to happen as well. i may have told you about the lady named Christina that we were teaching. after a while we couldnt contact her and left it up to her to call us. well, that was about 6 weeks ago, if not longer. this week, Elder Parkinson and i had this thought to go see her. we didnt know what to say, and we didnt know how we'd go about talking with her, but we knew we should go see her. we went by, and she invited us right in. we sat down, and talked for a few minutes, and then she told us that wasnt a really good time, but that she'd like to set up another time for us to come back. we have a return appointment tomorrow, and we're way excited. we've also been playing basketball with a guy named jason, who is a friend of a member here. he's been asking Jessica (the member) questions about the church, and now we're working into teaching him. and Leslie hasnt been taught in over 3 months, but now she's meeting with us again. the Lord is really working with us as we've been serving. i think that is what has really been helping. obviously, there is still a TON to be done, but things are starting to roll, and you gotta start somewhere. the bike isnt treating me too well, or maybe it's just the amount of service we're doing, but my knees have been suffering a bit lately with some stiffness and the like. i think i'm going to buy one of those knee straps that is for osgood-schlatter's, and just wear it under my pants. maybe that would help. one day it actually was hard for me to get up some stairs. i had to do it slowly. i dont know what will happen, but our president's interviews are this week, so i'll talk to him about that. sounds like the reunions went well, and that dad is teaching that there shouldnt be gender discrimination. if a girl wants to pee on the grass, then i guess that's alright. lol. i'm really glad that you guys have showed compassion to those people. i know they appreciated it very much, and if there's anything i've learned on my mission, it's that you simply cannot help someone and still be in a bad mood. it cant be done. so many times, especially in this area, i have been discouraged, and in a bad mood, but then we'll find someone to help, and i feel so much better. serving and helping someone out is also a really good 'in' to share the gospel. when people see you care about them, they'll want to listen to what you'll say. speaking of which, have the missionaries taught you what to say? if not, i'd highly suggest you get your missionaries to go over the first lesson with you, with the 'restoration' pamphlet. get to know it, so you'll have that info on hand if you are called to share it. seriously, it's really something you need to know. well, i guess this week, being wednesday, i'll have been out for 14 months. time lately has just gone by like crazy. i cant believe i've already been in this area for that long. the wards are going to be moving to Kelso next month, and they told me when i get home and engaged that they better receive an invitation. lol. they've become really good friends, and i'll probably stay in contact with them for a long time. have you heard from Jeanne much lately? i talked to her about a week or 2 ago, and she said she had heard from you, but i know that she really really really appreciates your emails. well, i guess that's all for this week. i hope you guys have a good week, and i'll type at you next week. love you!Elder Morrison

Morrison Reunion
My brother Kerry, was in charge of the reunion this year, and I must say he did a WONDERFUL job. Good food, not overplanned, and provided a great atmosphire for all the family to build good memories. Friday (the yellow day) was filled with "fun at steadman's". This is a famly from RaftRiver that loaned us their back yard for about 4 hours. They have a HUGH slip-n-slide we all had fun on, and a Zip line that aided in Tyler breaking his toe. I know... Ty breaking a bone?... how can that be?.... it's not even hockey season yet. Anyway, the broken bone was the only mishap.
Saturday was filled with good food, 4-wheeler road trips, an auction that put our family reunion fun in the black by $600, and an evening playing bluegrass music. Don't think it can get better than that.
Tyler & Kylee spent some late night time painting the Oakley Rock... Shush... nowbody knows.
We head off for some more fun with the Burch bunch in the morning!

First Love
Today at the swimming pool Kevakin's secret love (14 year old Abby Stones) brushed up against his left arm while she was tending to her life guarding duties. A kid can't wash such precious girl germs off all in the same day!Kevakin Just Checking
As our family diligently works together building a quilt for the family reunion, Kevakin checks to see if he can participate in such an activity and still retain his manhood.
