Tyler's blood test results came in today from Dr. Hourigan. He has diagnosed him with Gilbert's syndrome. At least for now...Dr. Hourigan still wants to wait until the GI doctors have a chance to look at the results to be sure.
Gilbert's syndrome is hereditary and is caused by increased bilirubin and is found in up to 5% of the population.
The main symptom is harmless jaundice and does not require treatment. It is caused by elevated levels of unconjugated bilirubin in the bloodstream. Hopefully this will take care of itself.
