Letter from Elder Morrison

well, here's another week. crazy. well, anyways, things are really good this week. i'm really excited about the work that's going on here. Julie and Sarah (you'll have a pic next week) are getting baptized this sunday. julie wants to go to the temple, and so we're really excited for her to be able to do that with baptisms for the dead, along with her sister sarah. we finished the lessons with them on saturday, and will have their interviews on Wed, a lesson (or video) about the temple, and why we have them, and then they'll be baptized. very exciting. also we're working with a part member family right now. the mom is a member as well as several of the kids (who have moved out on their own at the moment). we are teaching her son, Chase Maul, who has expressed his desire to be baptized. his date is set for March 2nd.
Wendy Copeland is a member referral who has a brother and a few neices that are LDS. she has done a lot of studying on her own, and has a small testimony of the prophet Joseph Smith and is getting one of the Book of Mormon. She is currently pentecostal, so there's a few things we have to come down on with that, but there are things that all converts have to learn where their church taught them false doctrine. she has a baptismal date though of march 9th. so yeah, lots of good stuff happening here. i AM torn though. part of me wants to stay, part of me wants to get away from my comp. so, one of us gets transferred, or i'm gonna lose my mind. but that's enough about that.
so the stake got reorganized. sounds like a good organization. President Baker is going to do great in that calling. i'm pretty excited to report to him in a year and 3 1/2 months. as for being grateful to everyone, dont worry, i am. you guys raised me well. i see that now that i'm in the real world, where i see everything is really screwed up. thanks so much for raising me the way you did. i'm really blessed.
sounds like the teaching of Donna is going well, at least from a missionary standpoint. every appointment set is exciting to the missionaries. just dont tell her about stuff she's not ready to hear (baptism for the dead, kolob, bearing testimony forgives sin, etc.) it's really annoying when members do that, because the lesson then becomes unorganized, and they try to eat the meat before the milk. so please dont be like the idiot members.
12 days package....no. still havent gotten it. i've pretty much given up hope on that one. i'm looking forward to this one though.
did i tell you guys that i bought a keyboard at a thrift shop for 3 bucks?
now i can play piano in the apartment, and keep up on my skills. its really nice to have it. plus i can plug it into my ipod speakers for better quality and loudness. works out pretty well.
i cant really think of anything else really big that's going on around here, except it's been really cold for a while, although today is a high of 59 (stupid missouri weather).
remember to read scriptures as a family. remember to pray as a family.
morning and night. from what i've seen and experienced, you cant afford not to. remember to read the scriptures personally too. if you need something to study, read Alma 32 and Ether 12 back to back. they give great insight to what faith is, and how it can grow. if you do that, then go to Alma 7, which is deep into the Atonement. it's great. tyler, read preach my gospel. learn the lessons. if you have time, go on splits with the Elders, you and dad.
maybe on a sunday afternoon or evening. this work is really important, and in a few years, so the prophet has told us, north america will be very very hard to do missionary work in. do it while you can. you should have the blessings of sharing the restored gospel.
love you,
Elder Morrison
